Gents, change will not occur overnight or even in a week. There’ll be highs and there’ll be lows on this journey, but trust me, stick with it and the results will come.
You will have to make sacrifices for this to work. You’ll have to turn down treats, skip the odd party and make better decisions when eating out, but not completely and not forever.
Speaking of treats: treats should be regarded as something out of the ordinary. If it occurs more than once a month, it’s no longer out of the ordinary, so it’s no longer a treat. You’ll be exposed to treats everyday, but be strong and have the willpower to stay on course. Your diet will be controlled by you, so make the right decisions – you know what they are.
Understand that you’re responsible. If you take responsibility for where you are right now, you’ll be successful. If you constantly blame external factors for everything that happens, then I’m afraid you won’t be. Let me reinforce that: as an adult, no one is responsible for you but yourself. Accept that and realise that the power to change is in your hands alone.
Your attitude, consistency and willingness to make sacrifices will determine your success for the next few weeks. In fitness, the consistency concept states that once a suitable plan is developed and implemented, it must be persistently executed to support progress towards the desired result.
